The stage plan for the next stage is produced near the end of the current stage. Closure activities should be planned as part of the stage plan for the final stage.
Planning should not be undertaken alone by one person. The project manager needs to consult with the project board, team managers and other stakeholders in order to create a viable business plan.
The more people involved within the planning stages the more robust the plan will be.
PRINCE2 suggests the following activities:
✔ Review the components of the project initiation document and if it requires updating it should be so.
✔ Produce a stage plan for the next stage
✔ Create configuration item records for products to be produced in the next stage
✔ Update any other documents affected by change e.g. issue/risk register & quality register.
